‘Welcome to the Family’ After Effects Project

A short After Effects project I made for an assignment in my undergrad. This was part of a motion graphics/typography project where we were instructed to take a song we liked and create a short video and time our edits to that song.

Alongside typography and motion graphics, I also took the opportunity to modify the sound itself creating snap transitions and breaks so I could work with all the sections of the song I wanted while keeping within our set time constraints. While this is an early piece of my work in college, I am still proud of it to this day.

‘The Inventor’s Workshop’ Tutorial Animation

For my accompanying video post-production project, I chose to create a tutorial video for the game. The video would explain how the game is played and how the player will interact with the different objects and objectives. The video will be made using motion graphics and keyframe animations.

Many icons have been pulled from the designs used in other assets created for the game, these being the blueprint textures designed in Adobe Illustrator. Other assets such as text and graphics were created in After Effects. This video would be viewable in the game as a short tutorial to explain the game’s rules and controls. The player can select the “How To Play” option on the main menu to view the full tutorial video and graphics.

BBDO Video Editor Internship

RSA Road Safety Advert

These short ads were used on both TV and YouTube as part of the RSA’s campaign regarding cyclist safety on main roads. For these snippets, my job was to rotoscope the moving cyclist while they indicated the proper distance required on main roads. This involved me going frame by frame to digital cut the cyclist out of the original footage so the other editor could insert him cleanly into the final cut, allowing for a seamless transition to having two of the same actor on screen!

Carroll’s ‘New York Deli’ Jumbotron Shorts

These ‘New York Deli’ shorts were used by Carroll’s to promote their product on massive jumbotron screens in large public areas. The primary difference I faced with this was the level of detail required when animating something for a very large screen, as small errors that would normally be invisible on smaller screens become so much more obvious when blown up to their massive scale, so key attention to detail was required.

Rockshore Sizzle Reel

While not an official ad, this sizzle reel was created for Rockshore in order to develop a visual prototype for their ad to launch their product. I was given just the voice over and a page of images they had found on google of what kind imagery they wanted, and I sourced clips from stock footage websites to create a convincing sizzle reel for their product.

Sound Design

‘Drive’ Opening Scene Redub

For this assignment we were provided with the opening scene to drive and a copy of that scene with no sound and instructed to recreate a small section from that scene with our own sounds. All sound used in the project were provided by our lecturer’s sound library.
